I've got a scene that requires the camera to be above a bed looking down. The camera's not to be too far from the bed, just enough to get a medium shot. I'm an indie filmmaker without a lot of dough. I've got 1 c-stand, some light stands, gaffer's tape, some sandbags, a tripod. Can anybody recommend a safe, cheap way to achieve the effect I'm looking for?

Thanks.

Oops forgot to mention, the camera is a 5lbs video camera

GO old school and make a swing set out of 2x4s and drill/bolt the camera to a 2x4.

It's a pretty light camera, use the 4 X 2 mentioned or a pole between the light stands in a goal post arrangement looking down on the bed should work. The 4 x 2 may not be required for the camera weight involved, I suspect 2 x 2 would be fine for this arrangement.

We made a heavy duty version of this arrangement for a HDCAM camera using crank elevator lighting stands, which worked extremely well. We just wound the stands up to the required height.
