My dad sent me a link to this site that has examples of 4x5 Kodachrome slides made during WW2 -- the colors and sharpness are amazing:

Thank you David. I love them all, though I am particularly interested in the interior shots. Was Kodachrome actually tungsten based, I forget. I ask because of the interiors and how the faces are lit. Did they hava daylight balanced lighting, HMI like, back then? I just got a film scanner to archive all the negatives and slides I have. Time after time, the Kodachrome slides steal the show. Thanks again for sharing.

IIRC at that time Kodachrome came in both balances, or so I think I read once.
