Uneven colour from cmos camera

I am currently restoring some old 8 mm film reels. My cmos camera displays a greenish tint in the centre of the image at low exposure settings. I am looking at the possibility of applying a complimentary colour mask over the image to neutralize this effect but am not sure how to achieve this - suggestions would be welcome.........

Get a macro lens and photograph the film in the gate (not on a screen or wall) and replace the projectors bulb with a low wattage frosted bulb and a diffuser, or get a real scan on a Telecine.
