I have two clips that play back all choppy or freeze up all together. Avid AMA spits our errors on them. I wonder if there is a way to fix the files in camera? I tried writing to a new cf card and then copying to another cf in camera. Didn't help.

You could try a free software tool like ffmpeg. To get some idea whether it'll help or not, try playing the files in VLC media player, which uses some of the same underlying software.

If VLC does any better that may be an indication that it's worth trying a conversion in ffmpeg to get back to something worthwhile - it's likely to work better than Quicktime or whatever, in any case.

Nothing is likely to fix the problem entirely.

I have already tried VLC and yes, it has had the best playback so far. I'll give ffmpeg a twirl.
