Hey, I'm a Brazilian currently studying Film here in Rio. It's a pretty broad Bachelors degree, so you don't really specialize in anything.
Next year I finish, then I plan on going to the US to specialize in VFX.
What would be even better is that I could do that in New York... I'd love to live there for a while.
Which are the good VFX schools in NYC?
(that includes courses and universities)
Thanks, people!
PS:
I wouldn't mind living in Philadelphia either, so if there's anyplace there also, I'm open to that too... thanks.

If you want to live in New York or Philadelphia, that's fine.
If you want to go to school to learn visual effects, that's
something else again. You won't necessarily be able to do both
at the same time.
First of all, going to "VFX school" pretty much means any
university with a decent computer graphics program, where
you come out with a degree in computer science.
There are also schools that teach computer animation.
What kind of job do you want afterward, and where?

I plan on returning to Brazil after, to work here.
I'm still not sure what kind of VFX I plan on working on, but I guess it would be compositing or special effects (like the ones done on Inferno, Flame, etc.). I'd also like to specialize in After Effects.
I don't plan on staying more than a year in the US, so I'd like a rather short course.
When I say "VFX school", I mean mainly the ones like Gnomon or Lost Boys, but preferably in NY, if there is one.
Thanks for the help
