Hello guys,

first of all I would like to say well done to the community and creators of the forum - it is a hidden treasure island!

Second, currently doing some research and wanted to get expert advice. I have read the previous topic on the cinematography of "The Ring" (2002) and it contained a wealth of information. For people that have seen it, I think we will agree there is some amazing visual work behind it, the low contrast, the deep cyans and the razor-sharp focus. Mr Bazelli nailed it. I have done extensive research and would be happy to share if anyone's interested.

Do you have any suggestions for similar looking films? Moody, dark, low contrast that have that foreboding atmosphere? Still to this day I have not seen anything similar.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and again good job on the forum guys!

Tarkovsky's "Nostalghia" has a sort of dim, creepy mood.  I don't think the technical quality is as high or consistent as a Hollywood film like "The Ring", or at least, there are no video masters that would show it.  Elements in many David Fincher movies have that look, like in "The Game" or "Seven".
