This web site seemed to miss the news (or at least I could not find it) that Geoff Erb ASC passed so I just wanted to post that he did pass away at the end of June. I do not know the details of his passing. I worked for him on a TV series and did day work on other TV series he shot. A local NYC camera assistant that became a cinematographer. He was a pleasure to work for and nothing seem to beat down a good natured positive and pleasant attitude during the grind of network TV production. He also had MS which got worse over the years but he never blamed anyone when he tripped on a cable or something lying around. He just bounced back up said sorry my fault and continued working. When he finished working on Special Victims Unit a few years ago he went and taught cinematography classes.
The first time I worked for him I screwed up a TV effect so badly it did not work. After the first take Geoff seemed to think the take was good all around and I told him how I messed up the effect. He said "I didn't even notice. Keep doing what you you were doing." I just laughed very hard.
An awesome and talented man will be missed by many who have worked for and with him over the years.
