Randy, all you have to do is go to My Settings by clicking on your name at the top of the forum and change your User Name to a real first and last name. It won't affect your login ability. Thanks!

Because I see that people have had trouble changing their name, I clicked on the "My Settings" link as a test just to see how simple it is, but I've checked every available tab on the left and just can't see anything about changing my name. I also clicked "My Profile" and then the "Edit Your Profile" button on the right, but that just links back to the "My Settings" page.

What would one do next?

Only Sustaining Members can change display names.

Not long ago the forum registration routine changed so that new registrants would only have to enter their name once when registering. The forum then used that same name for the login name and the display name. When registering, the forum asks for "Your Real Full Name". This simplifies things.

Removing the ability to change display names avoids confusion for other forum members.

For most, there should not be a reason to change their name on the forum. If a user does have a reason, please email me and I'll make the change.

I heard we have string stretched across the pacific with a tin can at either end to shift our data.  Could be giving trouble.

All due respect, but I hope this isn't going to turn into a thread about how to change your name.

Those few posts,  with Tim's explanation,  solve a problem that's been around for a while.   Seems well worth it to me

Upgrading to a Sustaining Membership is currently unavailable.

I removed the paid subscription feature a few months back due to some software conflicts.

Benefits included advanced message editing, increased PM storage, upload storage capacity.

The upgrade feature might return later this year....
