Aren't these films some 40 years old?

Kodak 7242  Tungsten   ebay 271262476354

 

These can't possibly work as they need E-4 processing?  Or was there an updated version.

Yes, ME-4 process, discontinued in 1986.

Of historical interest only.

You might be able to cross process then as black and white or something but they are probably very deteriorated by now!
