"the last film lab?" from CreativeCOW.com

It's a boring and tedious article about a subject which has been beaten to death.

I actually come at this from a different angle.
I think this is a really good thing for those who love shooting on film.
The huge mega labs that didn't care much about smaller filmmakers are shutting down because they were mostly focused on making film prints for huge Hollywood movies and the business is being taken over by smaller independent companies who care more about their smaller customers and having new customers. These companies are focused on running a lab rather than the lab being an aside to their post production business or some other more important part of the company.
These companies will also be more stable than the huge company based labs of the past. I had the awful experience of planning projects and in one case getting as far as shooting footage, only to find the lab shut down.
I believe that we are getting to a more stable and friendly environment for smaller film based projects.
