Trimming source video before editing

Hey there everyone.

 

I'm trying to find out if there is a way to edit my source clips before importing the clips into Premiere. 

 

I.E. If I have a 7 minute source clip on my hard drive, but only 30 seconds is worth anything, is there a way to get rid of the other 6.5 mins and only keep the good stuff? I'm looking for somewhat of an easy fix. I know I could always cut the full clip, then export the cut clip, and then delete the old source clip, but this is really time consuming. I use a Sony AX-2000 video camera which films great HD, but the video takes up a lot of space on my hard drive. Just looking to maximize the space on my hard drive.
