hi there,

maybe someone in here is able to help me out: the left reflex leaf of my Arri SRII eyepiece is broken (loose) and I'm wondering IF and WHERE I could get it repaired. Also, would be great to know how much this would cost or if it would be easier buying another eyepiece for the SRII.

Thanks in advance! :)

In Europe try someone like Gecko-Cam or Pure4C in Munich.

The cost will depend a bit on whether it needs a replacement part, but given the plummeting value of film gear these days who knows if a whole new eyepiece might not be cheaper.

You could try opening it up yourself if you're careful, it may be an easy fix, like just a loose screw.

Alex

I recently fixed a crappy leaf on my SR3 - it is fiddly but it can be done!

Email me on James@tee2.tk and I will tell you how. You will need a set of jeweller's tools though (really tiny tools)

On SR3s the light blocking mechanism is in the removeable eyecup holder, and is easy to dismantle. Usually a faulty leaf will be due to one of the rivetted pivot pins being loose or broken.

If the SR2 has an original eyepiece, the light blocking mechanism is inside the eyepiece, activated by pressing your eye against the eyecup. These are trickier to dismantle, you have to remove optics.
