Hi i'm working with an Arri Amira and i want to invest some money in filters, specially for filming faces.

I looked on some filter tests at vimeo and created a list of filters which i find interesting.

Warm Soft FX1

Soft FX 1

Black Diff FX 1

Satin 2

Digital Diff 1

What filters would you prefer when shooting faces to get a more "film look" and not so sharp ?

Thanks

Black Satin and Hollywood Black Magic seem to be all the rage in this time and day.

I quite like Tiffen's Soft Net Black filters for faces.

to cut the film look off most people use Black Pro Mist in 1/8 and 1/4 density (a lot of people shoot everything w/ 1/8th pro mist ...its very subtle but helps alot I think)

I have also heard people using Tiffen Pearlscent and I know David Mullen ASC (on this forum) likes the Schnieder Black Frost filter.

most people use very light densities these days though. not full 1 or 2 ....usually 1/4 or less

Hello,

You can take a look at the "90 minutes in Heaven" topic where we talk about the Pearlscents filters and the Glimmerglass filters, Mr. Mullen put up examples of how Pearlscents work.
