Hey guys,

I'm new to this forum, so I hope the following question does not get marked as spam or anything like that

Basically, I make music videos on Youtube. Unfortunately I am down a camera man which means I have to make all the shots as stationary shots and try to spice things up in editing.

Here is the link to my latest video:

I was hoping I could get some advice on how to improve my cinematography given the current circumstances, can I achieve more interesting shots filming on just my own? or any other suggestions that could improve the production of my videos? Thought it would be stupid not to seek advice from the pros! I am just a musician!

Thanks!

Ben

Hey Ben.  I am no Pro, but have some experience.  First off, you don't need a second camera.  It can be helpful sometimes, but really it is nothing you can't do with one.

Also, I highly recommend a handheld stabilizer.  It will make a world of difference and liven up your shots a bit.  I personally like the look when the camera is moving... just best when smooth.  I shot the below below  with a Canon 6D on a GlideCam with a RODE Mic on my camera.  We had a second camera, which was only used for up close shots, the rest was me.  We used the audio from the RODE mic as well.

Hope this helps.
