I recently purchased a Small HD dp7-pro and was wondering weather I should set it to REC709 or Native?

Depends on what your camera outputs. If your camera outputs REC709, then simply set it to native. If it outputs raw/S-Log, then set it to REC709.  I personally like Rec709 with 70 zebra's, that's how I normally setup my monitoring device.
