I have always been interested in people working with long lenses, generally the use for creation of feeling of distance/voyeurism.

I'm curious if anyone has some examples of work in cinema over the years they like. I just saw a contemporary film "Heaven Knows What" shot by Sean Price Williams that I thought was really interesting shot all on the extreme long end of lenses. Another example I think would be Blue Valentine's contemporary portion which I thought was also great.

How about 'The Conversation'? Great use of zooms and telephoto lenses to create a voyeuristic feel.

Tony and Ridley Scott, Adrian Lyne, and other commercial directors coming up in the late 70's and early 80's used long lenses frequently, but more for graphic compositional qualities like Kurosawa, not really to create a sense of distance. And then you had earlier directors in the 60's like Gillo Pontecorvo use long lenses for a documentary feel in 'Battle of Algiers.'

Besides Ridley & Tony Scott, and Kurosawa... Much of the exterior work on "A Bridge Too Far" was shot on telephoto anamorphic lenses and zooms with doublers on them.
