Kodak 152mm M mount lens mystery.

I have a 50 or 60 year old 152mm lens made by Kodak.  M mount.

 

On it is this knob that can be pulled upward, allowing the lens focus to be turned past "infinity" focusing.

 

Would anyone know what doing this does for focus??

It’s the macro position, focus plane at 10 feet from film plane.
