I had a sister and a good friend who went that way. I think many film makers may explore this thing too lightly, meaning, without much experience of the impact of it on the life of others, let alone the deeper life of the protagonist. It's shocking. The ecclectic and indifferent may want to exploit it for that.
What we see we metabolize, we absorb and become a little bit like that. Not that we will nescessarily suffer that fate, but some quality of that, some notion of that will be infused into us, then propogated further.
Not that one can't develop a theme where this thing has a legitimate place, just that people very rarely do, so I don't assume that they are.
EDIT: I misread Satsuki. I thought the idea was to not show it at all, rather than to not show it.
So maybe I need new glasses, but my thoughts are the same.
