He was talking about talking with the DP and shooting in digital in an article and said:

"...Sometimes I can barely see it on the set, but with digital, I can always see it on the monitor. We can rate the camera at 2,000 and the camera somehow responds."

What does rating a camera mean ? What is the unit on the number 2,000?

He means 2000ISO. You can read up on it.
