Red marks in green screens

I wonder what are these marks? Little x's. What is their function?

In postproduction, the computer can recognise and track the location of the red crosses to ensure that the background stays in the right place as the camera moves.
With most modern software, any reasonably high-contrast target can be used for tracking. Putting coloured crosses on the green is just one way of doing it. Sometimes, a different shade of green (or blue) is used because it's then easier to key out the tracking markers.
