I have a Canon Scoopic 16M with crystal sync and am looking into purchasing a Barney to quiet the camera a bit. I've found a company called Custom Upholstery Products in Van Nuys, California that makes them for the Scoopic -- just wondering if anyone has any experience with their products. Also, does the Barney actually quiet the camera enough to record good sync sound? Thanks!

Several years ago I made a barney for the Scoopic M myself out of cardboard, rubber padding and duct tape and it worked surprisingly well. It must of quieted the camera down 5db maybe more. I used large rubber bands to hold it onto the camera. I'm sure Custom Upholstery Products could make something much more professional. I own their barney for the Eclair ACL and can testify that it is a top notch product. Good luck!
