It looks very familiar to me but I can't pinpoint it.

 

Do you know what this attaches to?

No, but it looks like a hand grip for an old still camera.  Something out of the 50s or earlier.

No, but it looks like a hand grip for an old still camera.  Something out of the 50s or earlier.

 

The handgrip itself I believe is an Arriflex grip, it's the odd interface that it's attached to that I don't recognise. Yet I feel like I've seen this somewhere before.
