Hi all, apologies if this is a stupid question but what is the difference between a dimmer and a chaser?

Many thanks!

A dimmer allows you to change the brightness of a light by variably dimming it, it does this by reducing the voltage flowing through the lamp. In some systems the dimmers, dim the lamp by flashing it rapidly.

A dimmer pack - is a DMX remote controlled dimmer for multiple lights on different channels

A chaser (as I understand it) works with a group of lights to switch them on and off in turn to create chase effects - e.g for discos, like a rope light. e.g:

More advance controllers could combine something like a chase programme with dimmers to create fire effects etc... using multiple lights - dimming them in an out in turn.
