Hi

We have a number of Led Panels that all have built in dimmers. We are rigging them into a grid thats 12 feet above our heads so we wanted to control/dim them from a lighting board and /or with some hand squeezers. The plan is to place the built in dimmers that are on the lights at 100% and then dim remotely from the ground.Any reason why this would not work. Was curious if they will flicker or possibly damage the panels in any way?

Thanks guys.

You can't plug (most) LED panels into dimmers; it doesn't work like that. If you want to dim LEDs remotely you'll need to use types with DMX controls and wire that back to the board.

In theory there is at least one type of LED which will do that. A company called Visionsmith makes a drop-in LED replacement for fresnels which is designed to read the interrupted waveform created by a triac dimmer and dim the light accordingly. I can't see looking around for those just to solve a problem like this, though.

A few of the LED tubes, Quasar and Sourcemaker for sure, allow for this; though honestly not sure on the others.
