Would it be worth it to get a Bolex PL mount for my SBM ($500ish) if I don't have that much to spend on lenses. Or for the lower cost PL lenses would the Switars and the vario switar POE or PTL be better?

Les Bosher makes the mount so I'm sure it corrects for the reflex prism.

Any advice appreciated. For now I'm shooting for 16mm projection, in the future for super 16 blow up to 35mm.

THanks!

Hey Steve -

I don't think the PL mount can correct for the prism - I believe that that's a function of the lens.

Personally, I don't think the PL mount makes sense for the Bolex unless you're using it as an MOS "B" camera for a camera which has the PL mount and you need to interchange lenses. Otherwise it's like hanging truck tires on a Miata.

Did I see you advertising an SBM for sale?

Well, I wound up with a super 16 SBM and a set of primes. Seems a little silly, I was thinking of going for a turret model. Also, I'm not planning on shooting super for a while anyway. Oh well, it might not be worth it. I was bidding on a rex 5 and cameras pro actually bought it off of ebay! It was 13x vf new in box, so I guess they'll resell it as new for $5000 (if they can find a sucker).

Anyway, I'll use the SBM until something else comes up. Just wanted to see if I could get enough out of it for it to be worth selling. I'm looking into those later switar zooms too... PTL. Sounds nice with that aspheron.
