High Speed digital camera rental options

I'm looking for high speed camera rental options that are easy & cheap, ideally without an attendant tech, HD resolution at at least 500fps. Thanks for any help.

Tricky.

 

Look for a Sony FS700 with the raw recorder on the back. I suspect there are some available for rental, though I know of at least one place that was selling them off because they were considered yesterday's news. They will do 240fps very nicely. You may consider the 480 usable. It's a very cheap option compared to any of Vision Research's cameras, which tend to turn up on a longboat surrounded by garlands of flowers and a group of highly-paid attendants fanning the thing with palm leaves and chanting mysterious incantations.

Hahaha. yeah, you know what I'm trying to avoid.

 

Yeah, I landed on the FS700 while researching options but I have a Red Epic, so looking for something that might surpass what I can do with that.

 

I did also just find a few very good looking rental options on eBay.

Not phantom quality - but able to do 1000fps at 1280 by 1024 - which is slower then sony and red and maybe doable resolutionwise.

 

More affordable too.

 

Or if you can shoot at around 200-250fps - time remapping tools like twixtor start to work quite well and with a 2x slow mo could probably simulate 500fps quite well.

Not sure that would work, Phil, but it looks interesting. I've dabbled with Twixtor and I know it has limitations but I may revisit that option for my project.
