I find this hard to swollow, but I was wondering why the Panavision Millennium Panaflex is quoted @ $2,648.00/ day US when the Arricam Studio is quoted @ $1,300.00.

I was unable to find any online site within the americas that had panavision rates, so I went to the Austrailian catalog and converted the AUD to USD, and Panavision Austrailia quotes the Millennium @ $3,500.00 AUD!

Can this be right?

My Panavision catalog says a Millenium package is about $1433/day. At Clairmont Cameras, the main Arri rental house in Los Angeles, an Arricam Studio package is $1400/day in their catalog.

Anyway, you rarely rent a book rate anyway. Truth is that I've been able to rent Milleniums on two features so far but could not get a similar deal on an Arricam Studio.

Thank you for clarifying that for me David.

PS) You say you have a Rate chart for Panavision? If you have it as a Digital file is there any way you could give me a copy? If you don't have a digital copy, don't worry about it.

It's just so hard to find out rates from Panavision unless you call them, and the last thing I wanna do is go bothing them with price quotes..

Just wondering...

I have the last of the printed catalogs from two years ago, now worn out. It sucks that rental houses are going to website catalogs only, but the printing costs were killing them I guess (especially Panavision's, which was a fairly slick catalog, which is why I've been saving them. I think I have four editions.) The prices haven't really changed much in two years.

Truth is that with most rental houses you call them up and tell them how much money you have and what you need, and you work something out, within reason. Bigger houses tend to be more generous than smaller ones if you catch them in a slow period.

The quotes between camera packages may differ dependeing on what is included in them. I remember in Panavision's prices there are a lot of accessories, mags, and other items that you absolurtely need, already included. With other rental companies you might have to order everything seperately from the catalogue, so if you add it all up, the prices should be about the same.
