In your opinion do you think that the DVX100 is the closest to the film look before spending 25k on the SDX900? I have a Sony DSR500 and I have no complaints except that I would like a film look and its missing prgressive scan. There seems to be alot of film look plugins but alot of them degrade the footage quality. I have read about DVFilm but haven't tried it(it is supposed to turn interlaced into progressive only where there is movement so it doesn't degrade the images resolution as much) Has anyone used this ? Any thoughts? The dynamic range,lens,etc.. is better on the DSR500 but after you put it through a film look plugin would it be better than the DVX100? Or should I buy a DVX to get the best possible film look under 10k? And I don't want to buy the Xl2,since I have never been a real Canon fan.

You might consider the Sony DSR450, which does progressive scan and is cheaper than the SDX900 (although that does 4:2:2 DVCPRO-50). Or wait to check out the Panasonic HVX200 P2 camera, which will do 720/24P using the DVCPRO-HD specs.
