Is there an already-existing all-in-one resource that provides (or perhaps a patient contributing member with plenty of spare time to explain, lol): An exhaustive breakdown of the range of SD and HD formats available, from the prosumer to professional level?

General information, definitions of, examples from, and pros/cons for each format (miniDV, DVCam, Beta-SP, DigiBeta, HDV, HD, etc).

And, of course, comparisions against each other (cost, performance, flexibilty of use, rating the commonly used cameras within each format, etc).

A sort of Wikipaedia of video formats, if you will? Gosh, but that would be very helpful :)

actually...post posting, I realize that Wikipaedia does sort of provide this. Sort of. Not the way I'd hoped, but close.

Any other links would be helpful, though. :)

There are literally dozens of websites with consice analysis of all these formats. Just do a google search of each format and you will discover all of them. Some are better than others. Some have agandas. Some do not. The more you read about and use these camera formats the more you will learn.

Good luck
