I went to a flea market today and picked up a functional Kodak M4 Instamatic super 8 camera for $2. Does anyone have some information about it? Are film loads still available? How do I meter for it? There are no controls at all except the button to run it.
The Kodak M4 Camera was an early Super-8 camera:
The 140-degree shutter gives a 1/46 second exposure time. I believe the auto exposure assumed an EI-40 tungsten balance film. You can "trick" the autoexposure by putting an ND filter in front of the CDS cell window (lower right corner), i.e., a 0.3ND filter will increase exposure by one stop. Putting a ND filter in front of the LENS will reduce exposure.
