Schneider Optics introduces the AccuColor Filter System, a new set of color temperature calibration filters for projection systems.
The increasing use of digital post production for film releases, as well as dual digital cinema/film releases, has led to the need to precisely match the color output of digital and film projectors in the post production community. While it is relatively easy to conform digital projectors and displays to a standard value, film projection systems have traditionally been difficult to precisely adjust.
Working with the leading digital post production facilities, Schneider has developed a system of color correction filters for use with projection lenses on film projectors. Now AccuColor filters can be used to match the color temperature of flat and anamorphic formats to a standard value.
Since the various elements of the film projection system are subject to aging, AccuColor is designed as a series of filters that can be changed by the projectionist to compensate for variations over time. The system is offered as a set containing 10 filters and one filter holder each for the flat and scope formats. AccuColor filter holders fit to the front of a standard 70.6mm diameter cinema lens and hold the selected filter at a three-degree angle to prevent ricochet reflections between the filter and front lens element.
Schneider offers an additional kit with a larger diameter filter holder to accommodate greater diameter anamorphic lenses. The company will also custom tailor filters to match an X, y target, according to individual customer requirements.
