When I play back tapes shot on my XL1 on a Sony DSR-25, the image is slightly distorted, with artifacts here and there. When I play back from the camera to make a dub, the image is perfect. Does anyone have this same problem? Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the heads may be dirty. Try cleaning them with a cleaning tape--no more than 10 seconds, I think is the recommendation.

Jay, thanks for the tip. I'll give it a shot, but it seems odds, since the tapes run perfectly when played back in the camera; and tapes from other cameras run perfectly in the deck... But I'll give it a shot nonetheless.

Thanks again.
