The idea is a school that teaches all digital filmmaking. This is building on the strength of an existing digital arts college that is successful in teaching animation & visual effects and sound arts.

First question, the name. "Digital Cinematography" is catchy and clear. However, I'm afraid it will date us because calling something "digital" pretty soon will be like calling someone an "air breather". It doesn't add information. Besides that "Cinematography" doesn't inform much of what we plan to teach like editing, directing, acting, producing, preproduction, compositing, sound recording and post etc. "Digital Cinema" broadens the meaning somewhat.

Calling it a film program is a misnomer because we won't be using film. One idea is calling it a Motion Picture program because that isn't specific to any medium. However it feels like an outdated term that recalls old movies.

Calling it a video program is too reminiscent of VHS and standard definition television.

One idea I like in principle is calling it Visual Storytelling because it is broad enough to encompass everything we are doing. But nobody is searching for a good Visual Storytelling program. They seem to search for film schools.

I'd vote for "Digital Cinema" out of those choices. "Visual Storytelling" sounds like a class that trust-fund girls take in finishing school.
