If you could start today new with whatever cell phone and cell plan that is currently available, which would you choose, and why.

Also, is the cell phone & plan that you think works best when working on a movie set different than the cell phone & plan you would use between gigs.

I'm asking this because I have heard of situations where people get on a movie set and end up making endless calls related to the move and at the end of the month they have a gargantuan phone, practically nullifying the money they made on the movie!

It seems every plan has a different perk they offer.

One offers free phone calls to anyone you know that has the same carrier. Another allows one to "carryover" extra minutes. Another doesn't have huge penalities if you do go over. One offers month to month coverage so you aren't locked in for two years.

So, has anyone been through the cell phone wringer and come up with the ideal plan for film people that varies enough to take into account huge amounts of usage (related to pre-production activity) and times when usuage signficantly drops?
