Simulate Dying Flashlight

Hi guys,

I am working on a short horror film. About 75% of it takes place with practical lights out. One scene involves a character grabbing a flashlight that dies out when she turns it on. Any ideas on how to do this. And what sort of flashlight and bulb I should use.

12v halogen bulbs can be fitted to flashlights and run off small battery packs. A dimmer wired in between the bulb and the battery would do the trick.
